Obituary

Douglas B Howard, age 66, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2019 at home in Aliso Viejo, with his wife by his side. He was born May 15, 1953 in the District of Columbia to Robert and Elsie (Davis) Howard. He attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA in the early 1970s and graduated from The University of La Verne in 1990 with a bachelors degree in Business and Organizational Behavior. He married Glenda Bagley on April 15, 1978. He worked in the bearing manufacturing industry for many years designing and selling linear motion - power transmission products. In 2000 he redirected his career to the financial services industry where he concentrated on helping others by becoming an Investment Advisor. His true passion, however, was ministry and teaching. He was a teaching director for many years with Business Network International (BNI) and he did ministry everywhere he went. He served as a deacon with the Alta Loma Assemblies of God, served with Survival Ministries for a few years where he implemented a thrift store and online bookstore to help support the missions oriented ministry, volunteered with the Career Coaching and Counseling and accounting ministries at Saddleback Church, went on several missions trips to Rwanda meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of the people of Rwanda by spreading the gospel, providing clean water and hygiene training. He was also a member of The Barnabas Group and he served as a board member of "The Plant a Seed Institute". Doug not only loved to eat, he loved to cook. Immediately after starting to attend Crossline Community Church he would get up at 3:30 every Thursday morning to cook breakfast for the Mens Group. Always with that signature smile. Oh, how he loved it. One of the most recent ministries he became involved in was Turnkey Ministries where he became a chaplain. He would visit people in rehab and skilled nursing facilities one or two evenings each month to pray with them and tell them how much Jesus loves them. Doug was a beautiful example of love in action. Doug also loved to play golf, fish, sing and dance. His family was everything to him. He is survived by his much-loved wife, Glenda; two daughters, Tara (Marty) and Stephanie (Noah); one granddaughter and three grandsons.
