Mark Edward McFadden, 46, of San Diego, died of a heart attack May 26 which occurred at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
Born in Watertown, N.Y., Mr. McFadden had a master of arts degree from the School of Art Institute of Chicago.
He was co-owner of Holland/Sumner Art Studio in San Diego.
He was also an assistant professor of art at the University of California at Los Angeles. An accomplished artist, he had some of his works displayed at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C.
His hobby was collecting folk art.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Hamstra, whom he married in 1992; four brothers, Keneth W. McFadden of Herndon, Va., Robert B. McFadden of Palm Harbor, Fla., George L. McFadden III of Annapolis, and William J. McFadden of Ashburn, Va.; one sister, Mary Kathleen Dupuis of Annapolis; and his parents, retired Army Major General George L. McFadden Jr. and Floretta B. McFadden of Edgewater.
A memorial Mass will be held at noon Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater. Arrangements are by George P. Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.
