	After finishing two years of Teachers College, Anna taught eight grades in a one-room country school house in Southern Ohio. When World I started, she took a Civil Services exam and worked for the War Risk Insurance in Washington D.C. where she lived with her sister Susie and two friends. After being discharged from the Army in World War I, Walter bought a 13 acre truck farm with a house and summer kitchen outside of Oxford, Ohio. The house was heated with coal, had carbide lights, a cistern with running water in the kitchen and a wood cooking stove. Anna and Walter were married in her parent's home in March 1920. Walter worked as a truck farmer, painter, and paper hanger in and around Oxford. Because of Anna's health, Walter built a collapsible house trailer and they moved with Marianna, age 12, Colleen, age 9, and Dale, age 5. They lived on the desert in the house trailer in Morristown, Arizona. After moving into a small stone house, the house burned to the ground, as well as most of their possessions, so they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. They lived in two separate rental houses until Walter died in 1935. Anna bought a small brick home from proceeds of the sale of the house in Ohio. She lived there until she died.

	Susan and Leroy were married in 1921. Leroy was 28 and Susan was 21. They settled on a small farm located at 2741 Indian Creek Road, Reily Township. In 1946 they moved to Oxford, Ohio at 107 East Spring. Susan was always a housewife, raising her family, a large garden and chickens. Leroy graduated from Reily High School. Susan stopped school in grade eight so she could help brother Bill with his wounded leg. She educated herself by helping her children with their homework. She read almost all of their textbooks. Leroy and Susan were active in the Walker Methodist Church and later in the Oxford Methodist Church. Leroy spent time in France during World War I. Susan worked at the Treasury Department in Washington D.C. during part of the war. During the depression, Leroy went to Detroit to paint. He lived with Bryden's (family friends) and drove the Model A Ford back on weekends. Susan ran the farm, garden and animals. They sold and dressed chickens each weekend for the Huddle Restaurant in Oxford. Leroy was always a painter. He took over the business from his father. Later in life, Myron joined him. After Leroy retired, the business was sold and is still going on as Vanness Decorators. They were believers in education and were very proud that in June of 1950, all three of their children graduated from Miami University.

	Agnes Gertrude Hann was born in Arkansas to William Henry Hann Sr and Mary Jenny Burer. She lived in the Reily area most of her life. She was a kindergarten teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio for several years. She had the childhood disease mumps while teaching. She met Frederick Harold Stubbs (Ted) through her brother, Donald. Donald and Ted worked together and Donald brought Ted home with him. They borrowed money from Agnes to go on a date. Later Agnes and Ted got together and married in 1929. Ted was born in Canada and became a naturalized citizen in 1940. They lived in Hamilton, Ohio and Indiana. Ted milked 35 head of cows, night and morning. They moved to the Reily area. Ted worked for the Champion Paper Co. He also painted for Leroy Vanness for years. They bought a home in Morning Sun, Ohio (halfway between Hamilton, Ohio and Richmond, Indiana). He worked for himself sanding floors, hanging wall paper, and painting inside and out. Agnes was a housewife. They celebrated 50 yrs. of marriage there. They had three children; Lucille Agnes in 1929, Frederick Harold, Jr. in 1931 and Susanne (named for Agnes' 2 sisters Susan & Anna) in 1934.Agnes taught the kindergarten Sunday School class for years. They always joined in, helped, and drove us to basketball games. At home with neighbors they enjoyed sled riding, taffy pulls, fudge making,etc. life was good. Every Sunday after church we went to Grandma & Grandpa's (William & Mary Hann) for dinner and an afternoon of home made ice cream, croquet with all the cousins and hide & seek. Agnes & Ted were both active in getting the Hopewell Church on the historical list. They were both laid to rest at the cemetery behind the church. (Contributed by Susanne Stubbs French).

	William Henry Hann Jr, twin of Benjamin John Hann, was born on 31 Jul 1906. He was an animal and nature enthusiast. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He helped on his parent's farm, and worked at Champion Paper. He worked as a painter at the Children's Home in Cincinnati, Ohio. He later moved to the 165 acre farm with brother Benjamin, Virgie and family in Bright, Indiana. He owned a Percheron stud for breeding and other livestock. After retiring from farming, he moved in with sister Agnes and her husband, Frederick Harold (Ted) Stubbs. William died on 15 Jun 1956.

	Benjamin John Hann was born in Hardy, Arkansas on 31 Jul 1906. While he was young the family moved to the home place on Indian Creek near Reily, Ohio. His father, William Henry Hann Sr, a former rancher, was now a farmer. He also was a food peddler around the area. His mother, Mary Jenny Burer, was a home maker. Ben attended #3 school in the woods on the Miller place. His teacher was his sister, Anna Margaret Hann. As he grew, he worked with his parents on the farm. Virgie's family moved into the area around 1920 from Paris, Kentucky. Her father, Charles Jones, had worked for the Hancock racehorse farm. Now he turned to farming and odd jobs. His wife Mary was a homemaker. Virgie attended McGuffey in Oxford, Ohio. Her teacher, Nell Beckett, sewed her a new dress to sing with the class at the Farmer's Institute meeting. She loved Art class at school and hot pea soup for lunch at 5 cents. Ben met Virgie who lived nearby. She agreed to ride in his car. After a while they went to Kentucky to get married. She was only 17 1/2, but signed that she was 18. they took up housekeeping in Henry's Barns' new log cabin on Stillwell-Beckett for $15 a month. They moved a couple of times and had seven children along the way. Ben did odd jobs and Virgie was a helpmate and homemaker. During the Korean War, Ben bought a farm in Bright, Indiana. His twin brother, William Henry Hann Jr, bought livestock and they were partners. The kids helped with all the chores (i.e. milking cows, chickens, large gardens, cutting fence posts and firewood, raising tobacco, wheat, corn, etc.). They sold cream for grocery money. Ben worked at the Foundry at night for a time. Virgie and the kids frequently sang for cheap homespun fun. She played the guitar, organ and piano by ear. In 1955 they sold everything and William moved in with his sister Agnes. Ben and Virgie moved to Ohio near Oxford. He built rooms on to a small existing house on Imhoff Road. He did carpentry, cement, fence building and odd jobs. They still raised chickens for eggs and meat. Virgie got a baker's job at Miami University. Later, she became a cook and retired with 25 years. After 42 years of marriage, Ben died. The Virgie worked part time for Chi Phi Fraternity. At age 90, she sold her place and moved to Sunrise Assisted Living Residence in Hamilton, Ohio.

	Donald & Alfreda were married during the great depression. Donald was 22 and Alfreda was 16 (even though the marriage certificate says '21'). Since work was hard to find in Ohio, they moved to Absarkee, Montana in May of 1931. Donald worked there on a ranch for room and board. After a year of ranching, they returned to Ohio and Donald worked on a dairy farm. After a few years as a farm hand, Donald went to work for Leroy Vanness as a painter. He retired from the Atomic Energy Plant in Fernald, Ohio as a painter. Donald and Alfreda lived in the old Hann place near Riley. They did not have electricity and heated the house with a fireplace and kitchen stove. They did not have running water, but did have an outhouse. Kerosene lamps were used for lighting. They had a Model T Ford. When the creek was down, they could ford it, which was most of the time. One time, on the way to town, Donald got stuck in the middle of the creek. It was cold, so he left Alfreda and the 4 kids in the car with the heater going. Floyd and Marge were both over come with carbon monoxide. Alfreda couldn't wake them up. Luckily, she opened the car door and got out to wait for Donald to get back with help. Donald and Alfreda lived mostly in rented farm houses. They bought their first house around 1947 near Okeana, Ohio. In 1954, they moved into their last home in downtown Okeana.

Her first job was at Miamitown at $90 a month. Miriam met Aaron at a dance at the skating rink. Their first house was a Sears and Roebuck house on Ludlow Hill. Miriam taught at Aurora Elementary and then in Elizabethtown.
